Experience the joy of boating – without barriers

We strongly believe that everyone deserves the chance to experience the joy of boating – no matter the physical barriers one might face. That is why we designed the Faster 545 SCA, a pioneer in accessible boating. Designed in collaboration with active boater Heikki Konttinen of Finnish Eseko Oy, accessibility and ease of handling have been at the heart of everything – and the solidly built Faster 545 provides the perfect platform.

Hand-crafted from durable marine aluminium, the hull is built to withstand extreme usage and can thus easily be beached on stony shores, sandy beaches and along jetties.

The benefits of a bow ramp

The hydraulically operated bow ramp, which for the 545 SCA model has been slightly redesigned to ensure best possible wheelchair accessibility, makes docking easy and embarking the boat effortless directly from the dock or beach along the boat’s own ramp. The ramp’s lower threshold facilitates boarding the boat, while the flat aluminum deck makes it easy to move around in and operate the boat, even from a wheelchair. The bow ramp is raised and lowered at the touch of a button on the dashboard or by the standardly included remote control.

The hydraulic system allows the ramp to be pushed down so low that the boat stays firmly in place when boarding using ramp power alone, making it much easier to handle the boat when operating it alone. The ramp also allows the bow of the boat to be raised to the level of the jetty, making passage unobstructed even from jetties of different heights. In the 545 SCA model the main power switch has been moved from the console to the bow, and is placed right by the bow ramp. This change was made solely in order to ensure accessibility from the get go, to make sure the bow ramp can be opened directly upon arriving to the boat.

Solutions for accessibility and safety

The placement and shape of the consoles have been carefully planned. The driver’s console is familiar from the standard 545 SC model, but the co-pilot’s console has been replaced by a narrower tabletop and a handrail to allow safety, as well as better access to the door. The narrower port side console ensures more space to turn around in the stern cockpit even when operating from a wheelchair. The protective door between the desks has been widened to make it easier for wheelchair users to pass through.

The driver’s console features a 9-inch Raymarine Axiom+ chartplotter with CPT-S echo sounder, familiar from the rest of the Faster leisure boat models, and all the necessary controls and levers are within easy reach. The windscreen, which is made out of glass, provides good protection for passengers sitting in the back, and it is surrounded by a sturdy handrail-styled frame for security and support. Safety is further enhanced by the sturdy railings at the bow and stern, as well as the high freeboard.

The bow deck is vast and even, so in addition to easy maneuverability, the bow is ideal e.g. for transporting bulky items or even for fishing straight from the boat. Land your big catch by reeling it in and lifting it into the boat from the open ramp.

On the aluminum deck in both the bow and stern there are standardly fitted robust load securing loops, to which it is easy to tie down packing or bulky goods. The lashing rings can also be used to secure the wheelchair when driving in harsh conditions.

Outstanding carrying capacity and great drivability

Despite their relatively compact size, the Faster 545 models are in a class of their own in terms of carrying capacity. In addition to the eight-person capacity, the boat can carry up to 125 kg of luggage and other gear. Even though the boat would be fully loaded, it still drives smoothly through choppy seas.

Concerning driving capabilities, the 545 SCA does not deviate from those of the standard Faster boat models, i.e. it effortlessly slides through the water and splits waves in a firm but smooth manner. The great drivability and smooth running is highly thanks to the torsionally rigid, extremely durable aluminum hull that is made without lifting strakes. And concerning the bow ramp itself, it does not in any way hinder or slow down the pace – due to the ideal hull design the bow ramp is high above the water line, making sure it never crashes against the waves or slows down the speed.

The 545 hull is used as base also for many SAR, fire department and police force vessels – and if they trust in Faster 545 taking them out on missions no matter the weather conditions, so can you.

Endless modification possibilities and wide array of accessories

As with the other Faster models, the versatility and adaptability are some of the 545 SCA’s greatest assets. Faster’s familiar accessory mounting rails run along the boat’s inner hull sides, making it easy to attach any accessories you might need without separate tools. The list of accessories includes for example load-binding hooks, rope boxes, additional seats that double as storage boxes, fender racks and an anchor holder. Behind the windscreen there is space for two removable shell seats. One seat is delivered with the boat, and it can easily be removed without the need for separate tools.

Each 545 SCA boat is individually tailored to meet the specific needs of the boater.
